MPPSC Scientific Officer Eligibility

Educational Qualification

The required educational qualifications vary depending on the specific post you are applying for. The core requirement across all three streams is an M.Sc. (Second Division) in the relevant field. Details are as follows:

 

- For Biology: M.Sc. (Second Division) in Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Forensic Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioscience, Life Science, or Forensic Science. The candidate must also be a Graduate with a Biology-related subject and Chemistry/Biochemistry/Forensic Chemistry.

- For Physics: M.Sc. (Second Division) in Physics. The candidate must also be a Graduate with prescribed subjects.

- For Chemistry: M.Sc. (Second Division) in Chemistry. The candidate must also be a Graduate with prescribed subjects.

 

Age Limit

The age of applicants is calculated based on January 1, 2026.

- Minimum Age: 21 years.

- Maximum Age: 40 years for candidates from the General category.

- Age Relaxation: Candidates belonging to reserved categories and other eligible groups will receive relaxation in the upper age limit as per the rules of the Madhya Pradesh government. This includes a 5-year relaxation for residents of Madhya Pradesh and other specified categories.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates for the MPPSC Scientific Officer post will be conducted through a three-stage process:

1.  Written Examination: This is the first and a crucial stage. It will be an online, objective-type test with multiple-choice questions. The questions will be based on the B.Sc. curriculum of the respective subject (Physics/Chemistry/Biology). There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.

2.  Interview: Candidates who qualify for the written examination will be shortlisted and called for a personal interview.
